Lake George Foliage: Fall at the Adirondacks
Normally, you can expect to see Lake George at full peak foliage the weekend of Columbus Day. Currently, we’re anticipating seeing the full peak between October 15 and October 25. Before heading out to Lake George to enjoy the fall beauty, check out ILOVENY just before you leave so you see the most updated foliage report.
Now where are the best places to go to see the foliage? Don’t worry, we’ve got a list below!
1. ON A BOAT
While scenic drives allow you to see incredible views, why not check out the foliage while cruising the lake? Lake George Steamboat Company offers many cruises, but in the Fall, they have Fall Brunch Cruises on Sundays 11am-1pm (ending October 31), Fall Weekend Lac du Saint Sacrement Sunset Dinner Cruise on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30pm to 7:30pm through October 30. Lac du Saint Sacrement Midday Luncheon Cruise on Saturdays and select weekdays from 11:00-1:00pm through October 30. Visit their website for more information: https://lakegeorgesteamboat.com/
2. TAKE A HIKE
If you rather hike, Cat and Thomas Mountains offer beautiful panoramic views of mountains covered in the colors of foliage. Great for pictures! And when you’re done, why not check Bolton Landing Brewing for an ice cold beer!
3. GO FOR A BIKE RIDE
If biking is more your style, there is a 9 mile bikeway in Warren County. Enjoy the scenic views, stop to take some pictures, and maybe even bring a bite to eat and enjoy lunch at one of their picnic tables. If you prefer a more recreation setting, take a drive to Gurney Lane Recreation Area. They offer a 3.5 mile single track and a 6 mile double track.
4. CHECK OUT AN ORCHARD
Perfect for you and your family! Fall isn’t fall without some apple cider! Hicks Orchard, Apple Hill Orchards, and McWhorter’s Orchard can provide some fun for your family. Plus the views cannot be beat!
5. A SCENIC DRIVE
Bolton Landing is perfect for a scenic drive if you also want to stop to do some shopping, grab a bite to eat, maybe even check out a wine tasting. The foliage of Lake George will surround you while you enjoy your day.
